UPDATE! The much-anticipated review of Forever in Blue, the latest in the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series, has arrived, thanks to the lovely and talented Divinemum! Read it here!
Capn Anne here, bringing you the inaugural issue of HMS Libris, and I'm as proud as can be of what the crew has put together. Our crew hails from all over, by the way, and I do mean all over. What do we have in common? We all want to tell you about the best new books, music, and movies in the solar system.
What do we have for you this month? Well, to start, John Carter McKnight has a review of Five Fists of Science, a graphic novel set in an alternate history. Mark Twain (you may have heard of him) and Nicola Tesla (you may have heard of him, too) fight to control an army of giant robots (surely you've heard of them!). Read what John thinks of it here!
Miss Laura Ingalls brings us a review of Susan Cooper's new book Victory. Part fantasy and part history, it mixes together the stories of a modern girl and a boy sailing with the British Navy under Lord Nelson. See what it's like here!
The pirate queen Daisy reviewed Scott Westerfield's Uglies. A story about appearance and fitting in - or not - set in a future where only "pretties" count. Are you intrigued? Read what she has to say about it here!
Tiffany Aching, the heroine of Terry Pratchett's The Wee Free Men and A Hat Made of Sky, is back and on a new adventure in Wintersmith. (Yes, the Feegles are back, too.) Our own Maple Clef tells us about it here!
And I'm bringing you a review of The Princess Academy, by Shannon Hale. Brave girls standing up for their families when no one else will, and a little romance along the way - that's my kind of story! Read about it here!
