Gilda Joyce, Psychic Investigator

Gilda Joyce, Psychic Investigator mixes real-life problems with otherworldly interferences. The story focuses on two teenaged girls who come together to determine if one's home is really haunted. While both girls deal with the issue of not being very popular, one - Gilda - is working through her father's death and the other - Juliet - is confused on which path she should follow in life.

Gilda Joyce is a fun mystery and had me turning pages quickly to find out what adventure the girls would be off to next and what clues they may find. Gilda is such a great character for young girls because she certainly does not suffer from any self-esteem issues! She's bold and funny and injects humor in situations that need it. Even with the ghost hunting/haunting and the death that surrounds both characters, this was a story with a great message. Gilda learns that some change is necessary and that she's good at something, while Juliet finds out her true talent in the end.

Warning: Do not read late at night! Jennifer Allison has a way of writing that will make you want to jump out of bed and turn on all the lights.
